We are looking to recruit a full-time or part-time ‘Artisan Baker’ to take on a dynamic role based at our bakehouse in Faversham, Kent. This is a great opportunity to become a valued and integral part of the Wild Bread team, while learning new skills and applying your own creativity and passion to the highly rewarding craft of sourdough bread-making. After an initial training period the aim is for the candidate to take on increasing levels of responsibility and to be involved in developing their role as the business grows.

The right person for the job will have a strong passion for baking Real bread and will demonstrate the following qualities:

Required:

  • Experience in baking Real bread either at home and/or in a professional environment
  • Confidence in handling bread dough and the ability to weigh ingredients, mix, divide and shape dough by hand
  • Knowledge of what sourdough is and how it is made
  • Good physical fitness & personal hygiene
  • Ability to work both alone with a high level of initiative and co-operatively as part of a small team
  • Good communication skills and time management
  • Ability to spontaneously solve problems and come up with solutions
  • Commitment to providing good customer service
  • Basic numeracy

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of baking sourdough using a ‘no-knead stretch & fold’ method
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene and Handling certificate
  • Training and/or qualification in artisan bread baking
  • Clean, valid and up to date UK driving license

There will be an initial training period at a starting hourly rate of £8.50 per hour, after which this may be increased depending on experience.
